The Data Loader / Wrangler position can take you all over the country, so it is key to be willing to travel and work off hours, which can include nights, and overtime when necessary and can vary constantly. These hours and work days will be tied to each production's shooting schedule.

MAIN TASKS:

  • Design digital image workflows prior to shooting during the pre-production stage, according to the demands and needs of each project.
  • Calculate possible data workflow scenarios during pre-production for the planning of hard drives, camera cards and RAIDs systems during the project.
  • Configure and organize hard disks and RAIDs systems during pre-production for use during shooting.
  • Check that all required software is installed on the assigned computer before starting the shoot.
  • Organize and distribute camera cards and correctly name them for easy identification during the shoot.
  • Set up Silverstack project or any other offload platform during pre-production.
  • Prepare and test equipment to be used in the shoot as well as the download speeds of the hard drives provided.
  • Test the correct functioning of the workflow during the pre-production stage.
  • Offload and organize the filmed material (video/audio) on a daily basis on the specified hard drives.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the footage at all times.
  • Pre-format camera cards as required with tools as Parashoot software.
  • Apply LUTs in Silverstack as required.
  • Perform visual QC to ensure proper presentation and offload of footage.
  • Log all required metadata information in an organized manner taking into account camera reports, script reports and sound reports.
  • Manage the sending of shuttle drives to the Dailies Lab on a daily basis or as often as specified during the pre-production stage if required.
  • Send daily data reports to pre-specified departments. These include Shooting Day Report and Clips Reports as well as any other camera, sound or script reports specified.
  • Send daily generated metadata files to the Dailies Lab if required and as specified.
  • Generate stills of specific scenes or clips as required.
  • Generate and submit damage and loss reports to the relevant departments and within the specified time frame as required.
  • Perform Loader duties as assigned and previously discussed by the camera department or DIT. These may include truck cleaning and organization, damage and loss reports, material or equipment management, among others.
  • Deliver equipment in an organized manner at the end of the project ensuring its organization, cleanliness, operation and good presentation.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Experience as Data Manager / Wrangler in previous and recent projects.
  • Knowledge of Silverstack as offload and logging platform is mandatory.
  • Extensive experience in configuring and organizing backup and redundancy systems, RAIDs, etc.
  • Experience in data flow calculations.
  • Experience with digital camera systems.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills are a must as well as the ability to find quick solutions to immediate problems caused by both hardware and software.
  • Extreme organization, security control and multitasking skills are a must.
  • Agility and great ability to adapt to complicated scenarios.
  • Excellent work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in a team and under pressure and to remain calm in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Great leadership capacity both on the filming set and in the logistics and project planning processes.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong customer-facing skills.
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
